For that moment spirit, movement and interplay all in my hand
Background
My work starts with a concept fully formed in my mind seemingly out of nowhere. The art work is created in moments, layering, quickly indicating vertical and horizontal elements, finding relationships and order in each form. For that moment spirit, movement and interplay all in my hand. Layering and applying media one over another, engaging in personal conversation with inspiration. This is where I am most comfortable. This is where creativity lives. This is where my work gains spirit and meaning.
MEDIA; “Wet on Wet”
Multiple layers of Acrylic and Enamel paint are applied to the canvas, one wet over another. This is followed by tooling of the surface by knife and trowel to the still wet surface. Additional layers of paint may be added while working the image. A certain added dimension is achieved in this layering sequence. All of this occurs quickly without hesitation or regret, driven by spirit and intuition.
