Collection: Tom Schukar

The end goal of my paintings is for viewers to get captured in the painting rather than just view it as an everyday drive-by experience. I try to achieve this by utilizing texture, detail and color to create a painting that can not be totally seen in one viewing. Exploring the different moods of light, weather and colors on various outdoor subjects and environments reflects my long friendship with all things wild.

Oil and Cold Wax is my chosen medium. It’s ability to capture natures detail is extraordinary and it’s workability suits my exploratory process. I often  provide a combination of abstraction and reality side-by-side within the same painting as a method to show place or thing as well as engage the viewers own imagination and emotion.
