Talkeetna Winter (_85A0066) B&W 2020

Late afternoon winter in the mountains is a time when the shadows lengthen and the cold becomes more noticeable. I had already made several photographs in this area and had begun to put away my camera when I looked up and saw this. The shadow from a nearby ridge was about to engulf the area as I hurriedly set up my camera. The relatively low sun angle enhanced the texture of the windblown snow and the lines from the gullies. This photograph is the visual representation of the sense of impending darkness that I was feeling. I made this photograph with a Nikon D850 and a 70-200mm lens.
