Artist’s Statement:
Eating apples straight off the tree, the earthy scent of decaying leaves swirling around, waning daylight of autumn, bonfires and smoke filled air—such are my childhood memories of living in the Adirondacks.
Techniques:
Beyond the Surface began as a sun painting with backyard foliage as stencils. Images were manipulated and combined to produce a single digital image that was printed onto a fabric panel. The result is a machine quilted whole cloth quilt constructed from digital textile prints.
Materials:
Water-soluble fabric paints and inks; American redbud leaves as stencils; cotton fabric and threads; 80/20 cotton/poly batting.
Exhibitions:
Through a Lens (solo show), Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, Golden, Colorado, 2020
Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival, Overland Park, Kansas, 2021
Kaw Valley Quilters Guild Biennial Show, Lawrence, Kansas 2022
